Categorizing architecture beyond aesthetics

“Designing Sustainability” considers the construction of Rwanda’s Butaro Hospital, seen as a model for building a modern hospital in developing nations, and the collaboration required among Partners in Health, Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, and the Rwandan government and citizens. By studying similar design projects and interviewing other architects, the article further delves into the ways in which architecture causes social impact.
